Tell Me 3 Things

If your kids are anything like mine, when someone asks them what they did today they either go blank or they get silly and make weird noises. This activity can help keep your kids focused in a dialogue – whether it be a FaceTime call with Grandma, a Zoom hangout with their teacher, or just telling you what they did today.

Young minds are absorbing everything around them and are frequently scattered and overstimulated. I have found that questions that are too open-ended can over flood their thoughts and usually results in a lot of “I don’t knows”. Getting them in the habit of telling you “3 things” can help them focus and express themselves in a coherent and successful way.

Examples:
Can you tell me 3 fun things you did today?
Can you tell me 3 things about this dinosaur?
Can you tell me 3 things Daniel Tiger did in this episode?
